It starts with a sculpture, usually in WED clay. (a water based clay) When the sculpture is complete I seal it and create a mold, usually out of Ultracal 30 or Hydrocal stone. The mold is then filled with latex and allowed to "dwell" for a couple of hours. Then I dump the excess back into the bucket and let it sit upside down overnight.

It will need to be a hard mold made of Ultracal 30. Don't even try to attack epoxies and urethanes yet if this is all new to you. I would also recommend casting it in liquid latex backed inside with a polyfoam (flex by smooth on). Silicone is quite the learning curve to cast, seam and especially paint.

Stan Winton Online school is an excellent place to also start learn the basic and advance technique like sculpting and mold making. I personally would use an oil based clay as a beginner to sculpt such a small sculpture and look into epoxy / fiberglass molds as that might be easier then an ultra cal 30 stone mold with little experience.
